Malcolm and Simone’s relationship is moving along quickly as they become engaged and are undergoing IVF treatment to try for a child. Malcolm has become treasurer of an angling club and is secretly embezzling money away. After it is reported to DS Charlie Henry, their house is raided and stolen laptops and an unlicensed firearm are discovered. Malcolm is taken in for questioning, but Charlie’s frustrations continue to increase after legal technicalities result in Malcolm being cleared of any offence. Charlie finds out that Malcolm and Simone are planning a trip overseas and he becomes concerned that Malcolm could use this to kill Simone.
